About
Depth of Field
The creator of the strip is a story-teller by nature. That is to say, she has voices in her head, and making pictures with words helps keep them quiet. Depth of Field was a photocomic (link here for those archives), but she felt the need to change up the production and is now making crappy drawings.
The Protagonists
Bruce Belamy
Bruce is the landlord. He inherited the house from his uncle, but to pay the bills, he has taken on three roommates. Abby and Cassidy are friends from college, and Danny is a childhood friend. Bruce has several skeletons (figuratively and literally) in his closet. Bruce is not currently dating anyone, but he his ex-girlfriends love to mess with him.
He has a cat named Ceasar.
Daniel “Danny” Proctor
Danny and Bruce grew up together, and still remain friends. Instead of going to college, Danny joined the Army and served as a Green Beret. After serving, he went to art school and is trying to make a living through his art. Danny does not currently have a steady boy friend, but is in the dating scene.
Abigail “Abby” Thorpe
Abby is a contract Technical Writer, so she does not have steady hours. She met Bruce in college when they were forced to be lab partners. Despite the three nearly fatal explosions, they became friends. Abby is currently single, and is recovering from her last girlfriend (who Abby discovered was an energy sucking vampire).
Cassidy Sampson
Cassidy nearly completed her clinical psychology doctoral work, but gave it up without notice to become a garbage collector. Cassidy and Bruce met in their first year of college at the corner pizza place, and immediately fell into lust. They dated for close to two months before discovering that they really don’t like each other, and the only thing they ever shared in common was the love of Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza. While Bruce and Cassidy hate each other, they have always been completely honest with each other, and that is the basis of their friendship. Cassidy has been dating her boyfriend, Johan, for the last two years.
She has a dog named Ceasar.
Harold Belamy
Harold, the victim of a bizarre accident, died in 2004. Due to “things unfinished” his restless form wanders the house. Harold is vague on exactly what unfinished business he has. He currently lives in Bruce’s closet.
The Ineffective Pirate Edward
He and his first mate (a talking children’s toy named Indigo Bear), live next to Bruce. The Ineffective Pirate Edward lost his ship “Roquefort Hegemony”, and is now a landlubber.
The Creator
Lauren Tozer-Kilts lives in Seattle with her partner of 12 years. She works as a technical writer in the video game industry.
